There was a coconut tree in the backyard that dropped a coconut which started to sprout. I nursed it inside my apartment for many weeks and then eventually planted it outside in the yard. I heard later from the volunteer that replaced me that the Peace Corps had destroyed it by dumping gravel in the yard.
